If you find yourself not wanting to keep checking back on DMT to see if I’ve written a new post, don’t fret! I am not offended. Feel free to sign up for my email list instead. That way, when I write a new post, you’ll receive an email with a link to view the whole post here on the website, and you won’t be asking yourself, “Hey, I wonder if Esther wrote a new post today. I should go check.” Oh and, I won’t harvest or sell your email address, so there’s that.

234.

234. That’s the number of days it’s been since I last wrote on this blog. I’m human, and I have a life outside of the blog. However, I didn’t expect to be so consumed with the outside world that I didn’t want to write here anymore. So for that, I apologize. Many things have happened in these 234 days. So many things. Here’s some fun facts about 234. 234 days ago, it was husband’s birthday. I honestly don’t remember what we did to celebrate, if anything. I’ve slept since then. More than likely, it became just another day of the...
Update on a heavier theme.

Update on a heavier theme.

Well. I would love to blame my absence on the fact that hubs has been away from work since before Thanksgiving. Or the fact that I had a surge in business and it prevented me from being as attentive to the blog as I would have liked. However, neither of those are the case. The truth is, the latter part of 2014 was a shit pile. A mix of medical diagnosis, family matters, sick spouses, and general holiday depression. Although, I am truthful in saying that hubs was away from work since before Thanksgiving, no thanks to a 6-7mm...
Not dead.

Not dead.

I swear, I’m still here. Things happen in life that make me lose focus, but please be patient with me. I will be returning soon with some updates, and will go back to my regularly (or not so regularly) scheduled story hour. Apologies for being gone a while, or making anyone worry. Shit...
Musical Monday: You’re My Angel.

Musical Monday: You’re My Angel.

This is a different kind of spin on the typical Musical Monday post. You’re technically supposed to post about a song that you’re really into that week. But me being the rule-breaking type, I’m going to do it differently. I was at the doctor’s office last week and there was some major throwback happening on the office radio. The most random song to come on while I was there was Shaggy’s “Angel”. Immediately, I was filled with some interesting memories. Angel Lyrics @ MetroLyrics. After I broke up with Charles during my freshman year, I was briefly single. In January...
Thoughts on Metformin: Month One

Thoughts on Metformin: Month One

You may remember my first post about Metformin, about a week into taking it. It’s now November 17th, and it’s been about a month since I started taking it. I went to my new gynecologist last week, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that I had lost 17 pounds since my last doctor’s appointment, which was the one I was told to start taking Metformin. So I am basically using each appointment to keep track of my weight. I decided a long time ago that, if I were to start a weight loss regimen again, that I wouldn’t...
Musical Monday: Balance Beam.

Musical Monday: Balance Beam.

This is a different kind of spin on the typical Musical Monday post. You’re technically supposed to post about a song that you’re really into that week. But me being the rule-breaking type, I’m going to do it differently. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I have been in a Blue October kind of mood, so forgive me if I use another Blue October song for Musical Monday. This one, while pretty low on their radar in terms of hits, is still pretty important to me. And even though this particular time in my life was short and bittersweet,...
Questioning all I’ve known.

Questioning all I’ve known.

My apologies on the lateness of this post. I intended to get it finished and posted by Saturday, but life got in the way. And I missed Musical Monday, but I may end up posting that separately.  My session with Maxine this past Thursday was…well, it was eye-opening. We touched on two subjects. One, ADD, and two, enmeshment. A lightbulb went off in my head recently, upon reading this post by my friend Nicole over at Pure Geekery. For the majority of my adult life thus far (10 years and counting) and a lot of my teenage years, I’ve...
Musical Monday: HRSA

Musical Monday: HRSA

Apologies – I started writing this yesterday (10/27), but didn’t finish it until early early this morning.  This is a different kind of spin on the typical Musical Monday post. You’re technically supposed to post about a song that you’re really into that week. But me being the rule-breaking type, I’m going to do it differently. I have been in a bit of a throwback mood, so while I was driving to pick up husband today yesterday, I decided to listen to one of my older Blue October albums, Consent to Treatment. I listened to Blue October a lot in 2007,...
In my corner.

In my corner.

My session with Maxine this week was interesting. Since I am seeing her outside of the behavioral health center now, they are in her home. At first, I was apprehensive about this. However, I’ve established a sense of comfortability with Maxine, and I honestly couldn’t be more pleased with the situation. Prior to this, our sessions were in a small, drab room and I felt quite claustrophobic. Now, it’s in Maxine’s living room, which is much larger and much more inviting. Anyway. This week was largely about my mom. But I am not going to talk about my mom...

Thanks for stopping by.

My name is Esther. I'm a late 20-something living in Southeastern Pennsylvania with my husband and our cats. After finally admitting to myself that I had an issue with depression, I checked into an outpatient behavioral health center and am now on beginning a therapy program. This blog is a means to hold myself accountable, rant about things, and be generally open about most aspects of my life. Some people won't like it, but I'm not in the business of making others happy. I'm on a journey to find my own happiness first and foremost.
